According to Android Police Google is planning to give its new line of Nexus devices a swipe gesture to allow the user to quickly access the notification shade. This gesture will be performed with a swipe down on the fingerprint reader, normally located on the back of the phone. Furthermore, it might include a toggle so that you can disable this swipe gesture if you don’t want it.
This makes a whole lot of sense, especially when using a large device like the Nexus 6P in one hand. Stretching up the screen to pull down the notification panel can the be a cumbersome and often dangerous manoeuvre. Placing more control on the fingerprint reader and allowing it to recognise swipes is inspired. Why stop there? Other applications would benefit from the integration, perhaps for changing focus on the camera or skipping a track.
