LG G Pad III slips out

Last year in Berlin I was treated to a play with the LG Pad II, and exciting event and an the tablet was an impressive if unremarkable update to the well received LG G Pad. Oddly the LG G Pad II never really made a big impact in the UK and it was strange that LG themselves didn’t seem too interested in it. The company has much more interest their their smartphones and once again then have received a very quite announcement for another tablet in the series. Units must be selling well enough to warrant a new entry into the series. LG’s G Pad III 8.0 is arriving with the following specs:

  • 8-inch 1920×1200 IPS display
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • 1.5GHz octa-core processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 32GB of storage
  • microSD card slot
  • 5 megapixel rear camera
  • 8 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 4800mAh battery
  • Bluetooth 4.1

All in all, the G Pad III 8.0 is a little underwhelming, it will be interesting to see if it performs better that the Pad II’s Quad-core 2.26 with 2gb of RAM.

Price might be the real victor of the story, it is fairly inexpensive. Korean pricing for the Wi-Fi only model is ₩330,000, or about £200. Whilst you may find better specs in a similarly price Samsung or Archos, there are many loyal fans who would pick LG knowing the quality of their phones and TVs. The LG Pad III 8.0 might be a sleeper hit.
